Meditation Wednesday is a monthly series, where we’ll write a meditation piece for you to practice on your own. It will focus on writing, creating and imagining whatever theme we’re tackling for the month.
Although the days are getting shorter and darkness feels a bit more a part of the norm (because hey fall), the energies are asking that we enjoy the sense of Libra a little more.
Mercury and Venus will be entering Scorpio in the coming days, but Mars the energy force will be swaddled in air when it lands in Libra. The sun will enjoy the last few days of this airiness as well. This air is where the meditation focus is for this month. The sun won’t be in that agile, quick pace again until late January when it enters Aquarius.
Libra is balance and justice, and with Venus as a ruler, it’s about attraction and beauty, too. It highlights our relationships and how we relate, and before we dig in to the darkness, it asks that we take a deep, deep breath of fresh air.
Think of an Olympic diver and what they do before a jump. Most Olympic and professional divers talk about the mental approach and attitude in the sport and the role of envisioning what you want. They also talk about the preparation it takes, the practice and how the body eventually memorizes how to twist and turn. The body and mind—sort of becomes like the thinking concept of air. It is with these steps that divers are able to seamlessly jump with little to no splash.
So how can we dive in with little to no splash? With a good, airy meditation.
My lungs, they expand
wide, big inhale
I breathe in
the dark I’m about to roam
to embrace and become
I breathe out
I breathe in
I breathe out
Slowly allowing the dark
to be
to cloak me
be me, my lungs
I breathe in
I breathe out
I breathe in
I breathe out
And I jump.
